Dancer’s make the best models…
Seriously though, especially if you are just getting into photography, dancers are the best models to work with. They have a body-awareness that makes them perfect for posing and they can not only pull off, but hold some amazing positions. Plus, in my experience, they are some of the chillest people.
In this case, my friend had just moved into a new art loft that had a dance studio in the building so I pulled in MJ to model and set to work. This really was another one of those shoots where I was just playing around and wanted to test a few things. I didn’t have a set aesthetic in mind nor any particular idea of how I wanted the photos to look. I just knew that I wanted to practice shooting indoors in challenging light and that I wanted to challenge myself to do a shoot in a room with mirrors on both sides. It definitely was a challenge but we had a great time putting this together.
